09:41 — the container is opened

The truck is parked outside the house and the doors are opened with the crew ready. A full container delivered to a residential street needs somewhere to stand and somewhere for the crates to go; both were arranged before the day.

09:54 — what is inside

Timber crates, braced and stacked. Larger pieces travel caged so they can be carried down a ramp without being handled by their own edges.

The middle of the day

Unloading, carrying in, opening crates, assembling. There are fewer photographs here because everyone is working. This is the part of a “door to door” quote that is most often left out: it is local labour, and it took most of a day.

19:52 to 21:47 — rooms, finished

The curved sofa is photographed in place at 19:52, the bed and mattress at 20:18, and the living room at 21:47.

What this means for an overseas buyer

The day worked because the scope was written down: who unloads, who carries in, who assembles, who takes the packaging away. Those are the nine rows of the door matrix. Other delivery days, in La Crescenta, Orlando, Sunnyvale and San Mateo, are in the US delivery records, and the terms are explained in the DDP guide.

FAQ

Is same-day installation normal?

It depends on the volume, the crew and the house. In Orlando the crates were delivered in May and installed at the end of July, when the house was ready.

Why are the times on the photographs?

So the record does not depend on anyone’s memory. A timestamp camera puts the time and place in the frame.

Who took the packaging away?

The delivery crew, because it was in the scope. If it is not, it is yours.
