From drawing to finished: a stone and metal console
One custom console followed in order: the dimensioned drawing, the metal frame after welding and polishing, and the piece delivered.

- The drawing fixes dimensions, structure and the material for each part.
- The metal frame is fabricated, welded and polished before the stone is fitted.
- Each stage is photographed against the drawing.
- On a second console, a deviation was circled on a photograph and sent back for a decision.
A custom piece is only as controllable as its drawing. This console went from a dimensioned drawing to a welded and polished frame to a delivered piece, and each step can be compared with the one before it.
Source: our own project file for this piece. The client’s reference image is not reproduced.
What does the drawing settle?
Everything that would otherwise be decided on the workshop floor. Overall size, the taper of the legs, the thickness of the top, how the stone sits on the frame and which finish goes where. If it is not on the drawing, it is somebody’s guess.
How is the frame made?
The legs and rails are cut, welded and polished as a frame before any stone is involved. Photographed at this stage, the proportions can be checked against the drawing while it is still easy to change them.

What does the finished piece show?

The delivered console, in place. The comparison that matters is not with the reference but with the drawing: are the dimensions, the taper and the finish what was signed?
What happens when a part is wrong?
On another console in the same file, a deviation was circled in red on a photograph and sent to the client for a decision. The part was prepared again and the piece installed. That is the path in practice: recorded, decided, re-made, re-checked.

What this means for an overseas buyer
For a custom piece, ask for the drawing first and the price second. More pieces followed the same way are in drawing to finished, and what belongs in the signed record is in what to sign off before production.
FAQ
Who prepares the drawing?
We do, from the brief and references, for the buyer to sign. For fitted work the site dimensions come from the buyer’s local team.
Can the stone be chosen from a slab?
Material selection is its own approval step; natural stone and hide are chosen piece by piece.
How many photographs should a custom piece have?
At least one per stage that cannot be seen later: the frame, the material and the finished piece.
